What is Interview New York?
Interview New York is a non-profit public art project. We are asking every New Yorker to answer the same three questions:
- What are you proud of?
- What are you afraid of?
- What gives you hope?
You can interview yourself or your friends and family and upload the videos directly to the site. Of you can visit one of the locations (coming soon) where we have cameras for public use. If you keep up with our events and partners you can even bump into us interviewing at local festivals, farmers markets, community service days, and in churches, schools, organizations, and businesses.
Our mission is to create a place where any person can speak genuinely to a wide and engaged audience. The videos are tagged by geography and visitors are encouraged to "explore" different neighborhoods through these interviews. Interviews can also be tagged by content. In the long run we hope social issues will emerge and interest groups of people will arise.
How can I get my organization/business/school/group involved?
If you have a video camera just start asking everyone the same three questions! Upload the interviews to one account where the user-name is the name of the organization (business, school, or group). This way you create a "channel" of all the videos and people can watch them together. We will try to spotlight all organizations (schools, groups, and businesses) with a critical mass of videos.
If you don't have a video camera and you have lots of people you'd like to interview we can loan you a camera, or cameras, for a period of time. Please email info@interviewnewyork.com to participate in our Flip for the City program.
If something goes wrong what should I do?
Try again. Most problems can be solved by simple follow the steps again. If that doesn't work please email info@interviewnewyork.com and we try and help you as soon as possible.
